New South Wales

Australia’s oldest and second largest wine producing state, NSW, is an originator of some of the nation’s finest wines. With regions that span the coast and the mainland, the diversity of these regions lead to a great variety of flavors and experiences. With a lot of the bulk wine coming from down south in the Riverina, the more interesting area’s such as the Hunter Valley, Mudgee and Orange are found further north.

The star of NSW would have to be the Hunter Valley. With tourism being a major influence, many smaller wineries have managed to survive and create an oasis of boutique styled Hunter wines. With Hunter Semillon being recognized around the world for its superior quality, other varieties do very well in the region. With over 4 million people visiting NSW wineries every year, it is a large and growing industry that is well supported by the people.
